On Friday 30th January, 2026. The Old Tafo Municipal Assembly disbursed items to Persons living With Disabilities at the forecourt of the Assembly as part of initiative to empower the PWD's within the Municipality.
The MCE, Hon. Abubakar Sadiq in his key note address explained that people living with disability must be accorded the needed respect and empower them in certain areas like Sports, Health, Education, Sanitation and to be self reliance.
He went further to reiterate that 3% percent of common fund are is used to cater for persons with disabilities within the community. The MCE also mentioned that, he is hopeful these items will be helpful in generating income to improve the living conditions of the benefitiaries and will go a long way to promote economic independence for them and their families.
The Chief of Atafoa Nana Kwadwo Ahen II in his speech thanked the MCE and the Assembly for such a kind gesture. He entreated the beneficiaries to make good use of the items they have received. He further adviced that both private and public institutions should create employment avenues for persons living with disability to enable them contribute to the development and well-being of the society. On behalf of the People living With Disability, Mr Hamza Masawudu (a beneficiary) expressed gratitude to the MCE and the government for always having the PWDs at heart and appealed for more support to make life easier for them.
Items distributed includes deep freezers, provisions, electric sewing machines, sheep's etc.
