The Information Services Department led a sensitization team under the supervision of the Public Health Emergency Committee (PHEC) of the Old Tafo Muinicipal Assembly to embark on a sensitization programme to create public awareness on the outbreak of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic and the prevention of its spread within the Municipality.
The team which was made up of the ISD, NCCE, Social Welfare and Community Development, NADMO,National Ambulance Service and Ghana Health Service went to the various market centers, and Community Information Centers within the Municipality to encourage the citizenry to adhere to the protocol of personal hygiene which include , frequent hand washing, rubbing hands with Alcohol base sanitizer and keep social distance.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Fred Obeng Owusu also distributed sanitary items ie. Veronica buckets, tissue, liquid soaps, alcohol base hand sanitizers to market centers, lorry stations, etc. This is to enhance the practice of good personal hygiene protocol.
Distribution of food items to give ease to the destitute and vulnerable in the Municipality following the lock down in some areas in which Old Tafo is included. Posters and flyers on COVID- 19 fight were also shared and displayed at the vantage points to intensify education.
