On Wednesday,17th June , 2020 the Old Tafo Municipal Assembly had its first Ordinary General Meeting of the second Assembly of this Assembly in the year 2020 with attendance of all the Head of Departments, All Assembly Members, Chiefs, Press and invited guest all from the Municipality. The meeting saw a colorful event with most the Assembly members being new in the system was willing to see how precedence will kick start for them to be part history. The Municipal Chief Executive Hon.Alfred Obeng Owusu in his speech stated that Presiding Member as we have all taken our seats, our cheerful looks signify that we have all come with renewed commitment and dedication to serve our Municipality and the Nation as a whole in Unison.
Honourable Presiding Member, today’s meeting should have been convened in the First Quarter of the year preferably in March 2020 but due to some administrative and other technical reasons, it was scheduled to this month (June). The Assembly used the period in the first quarter to organize Capacity Building Workshops Programmes for Honourable Assembly Members, Senior Staff and Heads of Department, Revenue Staff, NABCO Trainees etc. to make up for the change of date and the hiccups, all the Sub-Committee of the Executive Committee were able to hold their Mandatory meetings in accordance with the law.Most prominent and worthy of mentioning is the emergence of COVID-19. Hounurable Presiding Member, we are all witnesses to this deadly virus which is ravaging the world of its resources all types from Human to Physical Properties with its attendant negative effect on global economy which has trickled down to the Old Tafo Municipality. The Presidential Protocols of the COVID-19 have been exhaustively implemented in our Municipality Concurrently with the routine office duties. Honourable Presiding Member, today’s meeting will significantly present to the house the various Projects and programmes the Assembly is undertaken as well as the approval Sub-Committees’ Reports emanating from the April 1st Executive Committee Meeting.
