The Old Tafo Municipal Assembly have marked the 2021 Green Ghana Day with a tree planting exercise in front of their new office complex and around the municipality to complement governments efforts at overseeing the planting of five million trees in Ghana.
Over the years , unconventional practices like illegal mining, unbridled felling of trees and bad farming pratices have led to the depletion of our forest covers. The Green Ghana Campaign" was thus launched in March this year by the government in order to tackle the depletion of our forest cover.
Mr. Fred Obeng, The Municipal Chief Executive of the Old Tafo municipal was joined by Nana Tafohene, Atafoa Odikro, Seriki Zongo, Assembly members, HODs, Staff, Official from the Forestry commission among others. The MCE in his speech said we should support this project because there is a saying that, "if the last tree dies, the last man die."
He also admonished all and sundry to protect the trees in order to restore what has been lost.
