MCE LEADS TEAM TO SERVE REMOVAL NOTICES ON STRUCTURES OBSTRUCTING ROAD CONSTRUCTION.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Sadiq Abubakar, has led a team from the Assembly to serve removal notices on owners of structures encroaching on the road reserve earmarked for the construction of the Ahenbronum road.
The team, made up of officials from the Physical Planning, Works and Environmental Health Departments together with the Assembly's Task Force, inspected the affected stretch and marked all structures found to be obstructing the project. Owners have been directed to remove them on or before 8th October 2026.
Speaking during the exercise, Hon. Abubakar said the road is a key priority of the Assembly and will ease movement, improve access for residents and traders, and support economic activity in the area. He appealed to affected owners to cooperate by relocating within the given period, noting that the notice was meant to give them enough time to salvage their property before work begins.
"We are not here to punish anyone. This road will benefit all of us, and we are asking for everyone's cooperation so that the project can start on schedule," he said. The MCE cautioned that structures not removed by the deadline will be demolished by the Assembly in line with its bye-laws. He also urged residents to seek approval from the Physical Planning Department before putting up any structure, to avoid building on road reserves and other public lands in the future.
The Assembly thanks residents for their support and assures the public of its commitment to delivering projects that improve the lives of people in the Municipality.
