OLD TAFO MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY ENGAGES STAKEHOLDERS ON 2027 FEE-FIXING RESOLUTION.
The Old Tafo Municipal Assembly has engaged stakeholders and various business owners in the municipality to discuss the proposed 2027 Fee-Fixing Resolution and educate them on their financial obligations to the Assembly. The stakeholder consultation and engagement meeting was held on Friday, September 11, 2026, at the Old Tafo Municipal Assembly Conference Hall. The meeting brought together Assembly Members, Heads of Departments and Units, representatives of trade associations and groups, transport operators, business owners and other stakeholders. The engagement was aimed at promoting an informed discussion on key development issues, particularly the rights and responsibilities of stakeholders, as well as reviewing and determining the fees and rates to be paid for the 2027 fiscal year.
Chairing the meeting, Hon. Sadiq Abubakar commended the Assembly Members, Heads of Departments, stakeholders and business owners for their participation and cooperation. He explained that the fee-fixing exercise follows the government’s budgetary process and is used to determine the annual fees and tax obligations of individuals and businesses operating within the municipality. Hon. Abubakar noted that revenue generated through taxes, fees and other charges plays an important role in supporting development and maintaining essential services within the municipality. He mentioned areas such as schools, hospitals, markets, roads and other municipal infrastructure as some of the facilities that benefit from internally generated funds.
He therefore urged business owners and other ratepayers to honor their obligations and pay the approved fees on time, stressing that contributing to the development of the municipality is a responsibility shared by all residents and businesses. The Senior Superintendent of Revenue, Madam Gloria Ampomah, also educated stakeholders on the various revenue amounts expected to be paid in 2027. She explained that the revenue collected contributes to the day-to-day operations and development activities of the municipality.
